My take on College: Shoe diary 5

I think it's fair to say that College isn't for everyone and it doesn't necessarily determine a person's success in life. However, College/University has various meanings for those who may be indecisive about careers or professional conquests.

Some people may have no other choice, but to attend a local or State College/University. This is often the case for every middle class being including me. Here's my story. I had several 'when I grow up moments' and I really didn't know what path to take. In high school I admired the sciences and math. I was a fairly good math student, but couldn't wrap my finger around chemistry. Due to my family's practices, I had to make the best decision about whom I wanted to be as an adult and whether I wanted to attend college.

After many career days, a nurse for a grandmother, thoughts on future income, status desires, and an overall love for my community, one of the career path I chose was to become a doctor. Not just any doctor, but either a Cardiologist or Neurologist. A specialist for those who might struggle with the difference between a general physician and a medical specialist.

Although I had this in mind, there were other things that interest me such as Law, writing, Entertainment, Public Relations, performing and other fields. I knew I was going to be successful no matter what and had various back up plans. All are entertaining, extraordinary, challenging, and in some way benefit others.

Boy did those back up plans come in handy. After acceptance to University, high school graduation, a major in Biology, and a first semester F. I knew that I wasn't on the road to Med-school, a Cardiologist/Neurologist neither, nor was I ever going to make my brain compute anything math or science related.

Here I am in College and I must take a step toward plan B. Since I have this natural ability and the adrenalin of a horse to want to perform and perform well. I tried a few things out that would fit my personality and natural gifts. I tried Communications, Business, Media courses and enjoyed different aspects of each, however, out of the three what clicked most in my brain was Media baby. It's not that it might appear to be Mickey mouse, weird, and unlikely. And may I add that it's neither Mickey mouse, weird, nor unlikely. I went through hell and back in all of my University courses.

I don't want to make this post a drawn out speech, but I want this blog-post to serve as words of encouragement for those whose families aren't Millionaires and may not have anything to fall back on if all else fails. And for those who want more than a fast-food job, but those are nice too. Yes; student loans, especially private loans are the devil himself, and the stress of College can be enough to make you want to quit. I will admit, I've had those days, but overall the experiences I've had throughout life and even in University have shaped the identity I accept today. Now, I know who I am and what professional conquests will be a part of my future. Apply to College/University, get the student loans (if you're lucky scholarships), have those headaches over grades and evil Professors. Believe me when I say it's all worth it in the end only if you are determined to be successful. Most importantly, don't forget to intern in relationship to your major.

The end!!
