A Farmer's Market at USF!

The University of San Francisco is well known for its strong stance on social justice , but not for farms. Some freshmen female farmers have collaborated with Media Studies Profesor's, Melinda Stone, and Seth Wachtel, an architecture/visual arts professor at USF, to give birth to this awesome project. Some may asks, what grows there?

Two of the female farmers, Gopika and Dianna say many vegetables have been planted. Some of these vegetables include lettuce, and Spinach. None of two have sprouted; but visible to the human eye are flower like plants such as Solis' and Favabean sprouts aiding in the health of the farm. Deep down in the compost are annoying weeds in which all the girls worked diligently to pull out of the ground on Friday the 7th. Yikes!

According to Dianna there is also an experimental garden. Planted there are delicious fruit trees like Apricots, Pears, and Plums. It was really cool to catch a full stem of broccoli growing out of the ground, in which some of the farmers have cut and prepared for dinner.

This farm is taking shape within USF's own backyard. The love put into this farm will truly bring satisfaction not only to the people of USF, but maybe local San Francisco communities. This farm is going to be the next big thing at USF.
